Sonic Interactions is a series of four audio and video works created in outdoor sites across Shetland that celebrate phenomena that are mundane in nature but, through emphasis on the detail of materiality and movement, are the agents of complex events. Read more.
The works will be available online, and screened at Sumburgh Airport and Northlink Ferries Lerwick Terminal on the following dates:
Thursday 1st April 2021 - Sonic Interactions: Loch of Brough, Bressay
Thursday 8th April 2021 - Sonic Interactions: Burn at Cullingsburgh, Bressay
Thursday 15th April 2021 - Sonic Interactions: Sumburgh Head
Thursday 22nd April 2021 - Sonic Interactions: Wester Ayre, Burravoe, Yell
Due to the nature of the work, the use of headphones/speakers/earphones is highly recommended.
Stillness, The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival
Stillness is a solo performance of live sounds, electronics and field recordings, shaped on my experience of Shetland and its soundscapes, and shifting on the balance beam of light and darkness, of the heard and unheard. During this immersive piece, delicate percussive sounds and natural materials such as wood and stone interplay with particular field and marine recordings, inviting the audience on a journey that is experienced through personal perception of time, space, sounds and memory.
