Sounding Dance
Visual/Sound Art Installation, July 2018
Participatory Sound Art Project, 2017, ongoing |
|
Sounding Dance explores possibilities in the relationship between dancers (or physical theatre artists) and the everyday environmental sounds that are so much part of our lives. Dancers take on the dual role of listeners and reactors to the sounds they absorb, letting the found sounds resonate so as to let their bodies become resonating agents too. The complex, ever-changing sounds that surround each body become the sound track with which each movement artist moves within a space of her or his choice. The project questions the role of chance in sound and dance, the relationship between the body and space and the atmospheres that are generated from the resultant movement work.
The resultant visual/sound installation (2018) is composed of audio-visual material, captured by myself, of a series of such encounters between dancers and public spaces held in Malta, Sweden, The Netherlands and Bulgaria.
